When I tell people I grew up in Jacksonville, people usually tell me about how they have driven through or how their grandmother has a friend who lives at the beach. Nobody ever mentions the one of a kind culture Jacksonville has. Nobody ever mentions the art museums, the craft brewers and coffee shops, or the parks.
Jacksonville is developing so quickly, it is hard to keep up with all of the amazing new things coming. Today, I got to explore the Hemming Park area. A once sleepy park is now thriving due to Jacksonville’s Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) and a candy factory, Sweet Pete’s, featured on CNBC’s The Profit. Restaurants, coffee shops, and even public performance areas are popping up like crazy!
But it’s not just Hemming Park that is growing. It is the WHOLE ENTIRE CITY! Jacksonville is not just the little Florida town you just drive through on your way to Disney anymore. It is BOOMING into one of the coolest towns in the south. Now is the time to come visit JAX and see it for yourself!
If you are visiting Jacksonville for the TaxSlayer Bowl, feel free to contact me for recommendations! There are plenty of things going on for New Year’s Eve. In the meantime, enjoy the photos from my adventure in Hemming Park!
