Yesterday, I got to do something I have been talking about doing since I moved to Tuscaloosa 3.5 years ago, have no agenda and explore cute places.
My blogging bestie, Chandler MacWilliam of Shotguns and Seashells, and I got in the car and started to drive. We started the day off in Historic Downtown Northport. Our first stop was City Cafe. I’ve been dying to eat here for years. With the charm of your sweet local cafe and the food and flavor of your grammys kitchen, City Cafe is one of T-Towns best. They have a different menu every day. Chandler and I both got the MEAT-AND-3. I had the fried chicken breast filet, fried okra, mac-n-cheese, and some ooey gooey peach cobbler.
Here was the best part of the meal… THE PRICE. My meal was $7….
After City Cafe, Chandler and I moved on to get a little more dessert at Mary’s Cakes and Pastries. What an adorable place Mary’s is! Attached to the bakery, they have a consignment cook ware. Isn’t that an awesome idea?! Anyway, Chandler and I got “cake shots”. She had vanilla and I had piña colada! We were on a sugar high when we left Mary’s!!! And to top it off, there was a sweet couple tasting wedding cake flavors while we were there! It got me so excited!
And as if we hadn’t had ENOUGH sugar… We headed down to Edgar’s Bakery for a “Spooky Cookie Halloween Party”! It was buy one get one free, so we obviously had to take advantage. If Edgar’s does anything well, it is making an adorable, tasty cookie!
THE MAIN EVENT
The last stop on my day of first’s was Kozy’s Fine Dining, and trust me, I saved the best for last. I treated myself to a wonderful meal at Kozy’s. I purchased a certificate from Posh Tuscaloosa for $35. The certificate was for $50. What an awesome deal?! The staff at Kozy’s was amazing. Our waiter was HILARIOUS!! I asked him what his favorite dish was, and he told me to order the scallops. Scallops wouldn’t usually be the first thing on my mind, but THANK THE LORD I listened to him. Garnished with barley, applewood smoked bacon, and butternut squash, the scallops were cooked to perfection. The flavor was full and the dish was very rich. I topped the night off with their French 75 cocktail. The cocktail was made with gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, and my favorite, prosecco. This meal was one of my favorite meals I’ve had in a while. Make sure you head to Posh Tuscaloosa and pick up one of these awesome certificates. BUT GO NOW, because they are going fast, and once they are gone, THEY ARE GONE!
Thank you to Chandler and Posh Tuscaloosa for helping me have an KICK ASS day!
Also, keep your eye out for Fast Foodie stickers all around town!
Until next time, CHEERS!
