With the start of school and the end of summer, I am throwing it back to my amazing trip to Vero Beach, Florida. Chandler MacWilliam, writer and creator of Shotguns and Seashells blog, invited us to her sweet beach town.
The wonderful people of Vero Beach showed us an amazing time! They were so welcoming and hospitable. Here are the highlights from the trip:
THE OCEAN GRILL
Located on the ocean, The Ocean Grill was one of the most unique restaurants I’ve ever been. It was constructed decades ago and was furnished with beautiful antiques. Every detail of the restaurant was thought of and beautifully constructed. While the decor was amazing, the food was even better. The popular menu item was the duck.. So popular, it was sold out by the time we got there!! I can’t wait to go back to try it!!!
We started with the onion rings. They were accompanied with a dill sauce. The amount of flavor from the sauce and the onion rings combined was one of a kind. For my main course, I had Coquilles St. Jaques. This was my first time having this dish. I’m not sure if I could have it again because I don’t think anything could compare to this rendition. They had a small and a large option. I got the small and I STILL couldn’t finish it. It was HUGE! Everyone enjoyed what they had. I think it’s safe to say that whatever you order is going to be amazing.
The staff was amazing. They treated us like family. I got to take a tour of their kitchen! I’ve never done that before, and I’m so glad this was my first. The kitchen staff welcomed me and showed me and Chandler behind the scenes! The photos really don’t do everything justice. Thank you to everyone at the Ocean Grill for making our dining experience an amazing one!
BLUE STAR WINE BAR
If you know me or Chandler, you know we LOVE wine. So it was natural that we hit up the towns local wine bar. I have never had so much fun before. We stayed here for hours. They had an amazing wine selection. And if that wasn’t enough to entertain someone, they had tons of board games. I have never been to another bar with this. We played Jenga all night long. The Jenga blocks had questions and dares on them which made for an even more interesting game! With live music and board games, you are definitely going to have a blast at Blue Star!
THE LEMON TREE
If only I could eat at The Lemon Tree every day of my life. Located on “the strip”, The Lemon Tree is the cutest little restaurant in town. We had our dog, Ollie, with us. Obviously he couldn’t come inside, so we had to leave him outside. The manager was so kind to him. He gave him water and made sure he was ok while we ate! The group had breakfast. Some had eggs, some had pancakes. All had a smile on their face by the end of the meal. The food was so tasty and again the service was even better. I felt like I was dining with my family and that is hard to do!
To finish the trip, Chandler took us to the local cake shop, Frosting. I love sugar almost as much as I love wine, so obviously this stop was a no brainer. The decor was ADORABLE. It was like something out of Katy Perry’s heaven. Candy and cupcakes. What more could a girl want?? I had an amazing cupcake togo. I munched on it the entire ride home, savoring every bite!
All in all, my trip to Vero Beach made me want to pack my bags and move there tomorrow. I still can not believe what amazing hospitality Vero Beach showed me and my family. I can never thank the people of The Ocean Grill, Blue Star Wine Bar, The Lemon Tree, and Frosting enough for being so kind to me. Thank you to all of the people we met in Vero Beach who made this one of the best trips I’ve taken in a while!! Last but not least, thank you to Stephanie, Buzz, and Chandler MacWilliam for showing us an amazing time and letting us get to know your city! We will never forget the memories we made. I will definitely be back. In the mean time, I encourage you to take a trip to the cutest town in America! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!
